Good causes

For ROTO, business is a question of confidence. Confidence that we build up through commitment to our workforce, clients and contacts. But ROTO has an eye for more than just its core activities; it also feels committed to organisations that work for good causes. We would like to introduce you to the good causes we support.

Yojana
Yojana Project Aid is a development organisation that helps people in India to help themselves. Yoyana has more than 25 years of experience and it focuses primarily on child labour, street children and women. One of Yojana's projects is the fight against child labour in the illegal open-cast iron mines in Hospet in the south of India. The children here work in terrible conditions. There is no housing and no drinking water, and the work in the mines is harmful to their health and dangerous. Yojana has set up five camp schools in Hospet, where the children receive a few hours of tuition every day. In addition, the children are cared for and they are given a roof over their heads in a hostel, from where they go to school. The parents are also encouraged to let their children go to school so that they can get a better life. And Yojana organises regular meetings for children aged between ten and fourteen year who don't go to school, to try and encourage these children to go to school, or at least to attend the meetings.

Willem-Alexander Children's Fund
The Willem-Alexander Children's Fund is there to help children and teenagers in the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), many of whom are severely ill. These are generally children suffering from cancer. The fund supports, among other things, scientific research into better treatment methods such as bone marrow transplants. It also helps in other important areas that affect a child's stay in the hospital so that they feel at home sooner. Children's TV, for example, and a special hospital broadcasting organisation for and by children. The Willem-Alexander Children's Fund also supplies good-quality toys, specially adapted if necessary, and child-friendly and cheerful furnishings. Trips are also organised on occasion for out-patients.
